The Sunshine Club

Their Mission.

The Sunshine Club is a life-enhancing resource for local families living with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. The Sunshine Club provides a day group for people with memory loss disease, offering respite for families or friends who are full-time caregivers. It’s a place where families can help their loved ones socialize, be active, share a sense of community and enjoy themselves through eating prepared meals, doing crafts, exercising, going on outings.

BEFORE

A Little History…

In 1993 the Sunshine Club was formed and operated in the church fellowship room at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church (one of the parent congregations of Spirit of Grace). We couldn’t be happier or more honored to be welcoming them home once again.

In 2024, Spirit of Grace began exploring the possibility of partnering with Providence Foundation, sponsors of Sunshine Club, to provide a place for a safe, welcoming, accessible building on our campus, replacing an old house that used to serve as the parsonage. Planning and research took place during 2024, and in November 2024 the Friends of Sunshine Club launched as a separate entity to manage the fundraising of $700,000 to construct a pre-manufactured structure to be brought to and installed on the Spirit of Grace Campus to serve as the permanent home of Sunshine Club.

A Little History continued…

On Tuesday, August 26th, 2025, the building was delivered to the campus and installation began! Sunshine Club plans to begin operating in the building in October 2025.

This fundraising and building project was truly a community endeavor, with generous donations of money, time, supplies, and skills from all over the Columbia Gorge.

If you were a part of this effort: THANK YOU! We could not have done this without you!

Friends of Sunshine Club…

Friends of Sunshine Club is a group of community members that formed to support the program through bringing awareness to the program, and now in coordination with Spirit of Grace church, they are on a mission to provide Sunshine Club with a space that can sustain and grow the program and allow it to meet the growing community demand.

They are an established non-profit and will continue to support the upcoming needs of Sunshine Club long after this new, gorgeous facility is in full swing! You can learn more and contribute to them here.
