Our Worship Volunteer Opportunities
Ushers + Greeters
Ushers and Greeters play an important part in the hospitality of our community! They arrive early to worship to greet folks as they come in and hand out bulletins and worship materials. They ring the big bell outside before worship to let people know to come on in and find a seat, and keep an eye out for late-commers to make sure they are welcomed and included as well. They also help pass the microphone around during the sharing of Joys and Concerns during worship, and dismiss people by row for Communion.
Reader
Every Sunday we have 3 readings in worship – usually an Old or New Testament Reading, a Psalm, and a Gospel Reading. Pastor Miranda reads the Gospel passage, and the reader for the week reads the other two assigned readings. These readings are sent out in advance so you can look them over ahead of time.
Audio Visual
An incredibly important job for our worshiping community! This role involves running the powerpoint slides for worship, managing the sound board, and recording the service to be uploaded to YouTube afterwards. This job requires a small amount of technological competency, and a brief 30-minute training with Pastor Miranda or Linda Boris.
Monthly Lay-Led Worship
On the last Sunday of the month, Pastor Miranda takes a step back as worship is led fully by our congregational community! We need 3-4 people each month to help lead the prayers, liturgy, and readings, as well as 2 people willing to offer a reading and 3-5 minute reflection on the theme for that month.
